ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Following the opening 36 holes of play at the 2015 Southeastern Conference Championship the Kentucky men’s golf team sits in a tie for 10th overall. UK has been paced by the steady play of freshmen Tyler `Chip’ McDaniel and Cooper Musselman.
Musselman was the lone Wildcat to register an under-par round during Saturday’s second round. The Louisville, Ky., native fired a 1-under par, 69, for the second consecutive round. He posted four birdies on the afternoon including three on the back nine. Musselman is currently in a tie for 16th overall on the individual leaderboard with a two-day score of 2-under par.
McDaniel leads the Wildcats at 3-under par for the two rounds. The Manchester, Ky., native totaled an even-par, 70, during Saturday’s round and sits in a tie for 11th overall. McDaniel’s round was also highlighted by four birdies on the day.
Junior David Snyder currently is 33rd following a 2-over par, 72, on Saturday. Sophomore Stephen Stallings rebounded with a 3-over, 73, for his best round of the tournament, while freshman Cristian DiMarco equaled his best round of collegiate golf with a 74. Kentucky is tied with No. 39 Texas A&M for 10th place on the team leaderboard.
UK fired a 284 for the second consecutive day and is 8-over overall for the tournament. No. 25 Alabama leads the tournament at 17-under par heading into the final day of competition. Seventh-ranked LSU is three shots back of the Tide. No. 5 Vanderbilt and No. 6 South Carolina are tied for third at 10-under par. No. 15 Auburn rounds out the top five at 9-under par.
Play will concluded with the final round on Sunday with fixed tee times on holes No. 1 and No. 10 at 7:30 a.m. ET. The course is set at a par-70, 6,898-yard setup.

This marks the 15th year for the SEC Championship to be contested on the Sea Island Golf Club’s Seaside Course. The SEC has conducted its annual championship on St. Simons Island since 2001 (Seaside Course 2001-2007, 2010-2014; Frederica Golf Club 2008-2009). The SEC Men’s Golf Championship has been played at Sea Island since 2001, with Georgia winning five of the 14 championships. Alabama has won four times, Florida has won twice, while Auburn, Kentucky and Tennessee have each won one conference tournament title during that time. UK’s title came in 2005 led by J.B. Holmes, the league’s Golfer of the Year that season.
