UK Diver Levi Lindsey Named SEC Diver of the Week
Feb. 3, 2015
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Coming off a career-high meet vs. Cincinnati, Kentucky diving freshman Levi Lindsey has been named the Southeastern Conference Diver of the Week for the first time in his career.
Lindsey won both diving events in Friday’s meet vs. Cincinnati in Lexington. The Bridgeport, Texas, native led UK to a 1-2 in both the 3-meter and platform events. Lindsey had a career-best score in each event vs. the Bearcats.
“Levi had a great meet on Friday,” UK head diving coach Ted Hautau said. “Levi has done a great job this year learning new, higher degree of difficulty dives on 3-meter and learning a full list of dives on platform. He has developed faster than we expected and showed it on both 3-meter and platform on Friday. He has worked hard, really enjoys competition and deserves this honor from the SEC.”
On the platform, Lindsey finished first with a 372.75, to win by over 98 points. On 3-meter, he scored a 368.70 to claim the victory by over 40 points to lead UK to a 1-2-3 finish. Lindsey was the only male diver to score a 300 or higher on both events.
“Levi has come a long way this year,” head coach Lars Jorgensen said. “He has continuously gotten better and helped our team, and we look forward to him competing well for us at the SEC Championships in two weeks.”
The Wildcats begin postseason play at the SEC Championships in two weeks. UK will travel to Auburn, Ala., Feb. 17-21 for the annual conference tournament.
