2015 GymInfo Preseason Coaches Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky gymnastics team will begin the 2015 season ranked in the top 25 for the fifth consecutive season, as UK earned a No. 22 ranking in the GymInfo Preseason Coaches Poll.

With the second-highest preseason ranking in program history, the Wildcats have been ranked to start the season in each of head coach Tim Garrison’s four seasons in Lexington.

“We believe the No. 22 ranking is just the start for us this season,” Garrison said. “I think we are a much improved team from last year, but we still have a lot to prove. We finished 21st last year, and we will go into the season next month looking to earn a higher national ranking.”

The Wildcats are one of seven Southeastern Conference teams ranked in the preseason top 25, headlined by top-ranked Florida, the defending co-national champions. LSU is third while Alabama is fourth and Georgia seventh to round out the league’s place in the top 10.

Kentucky will face eight teams ranked in the top 25, including each of the nation’s top four teams. LSU, Alabama, No. 12 Auburn and No. 13 Arkansas all travel to Lexington to compete in Memorial Coliseum.

UK opens the season at Washington on Jan. 24, while it travels to Oklahoma City to face No. 2 Oklahoma, who also shared the NCAA title in 2014, on Feb. 13.

Season tickets, which are $15, along with single meet tickets, are available now at UKathletics.com/Tickets. Fans can also purchase tickets by calling the UK Ticket Office at 800-928-CATS. More information about tickets can be found here.

The Wildcats are coming off a record-breaking 2014 season, highlighted by a program record NCAA Regional score and a return to the NCAA Championships. UK posted its school-record 195.925 at regionals, senior Audrey Harrison won the beam title and became the first UK gymnast to advance to the NCAA Championships since 2010. Kentucky also notched a school-best 49.650 on floor in an upset win over No. 11 Auburn in the regular season.
