LEXINGTON, Ky. – Eric Lindsey, who has spent the last three years as editor of CoachCal.com, has been named Associate Director of Media Relations and will assume primary media responsibilities for the UK men’s basketball and women’s golf programs, UK Athletics announced Thursday.
“We’re very excited to have Eric rejoin our staff,” Assistant Athletics Director for Media Relations Tony Neely said. “Eric is thoroughly familiar with UK Athletics through his experience in UK media relations and his work with CoachCal.com. His relationships with local and national media, his proven abilities in social media and his journalistic background make him a great fit for this position.”
Lindsey will assume duties as the primary media relations contact for men’s basketball beginning Friday. He will also serve as the primary media contact for women’s golf.
“I want to thank Mitch Barnhart, John Calipari, DeWayne Peevy, Tony Neely and everyone at UK Athletics for placing their faith and confidence in me to rejoin, what I believe, is the premier athletics department in the country,” Lindsey said. “I have been a part of the UK Athletics family in some capacity since 2008, but the opportunity Mr. Barnhart and his staff have presented me is one I do not take lightly. I’m extremely eager and excited to get started.”
Prior to his time as editor of CoachCal.com, where he managed all content for the website in addition to all content on Calipari’s social media channels, Lindsey spent two-and-a-half years as UK’s assistant director of new media. In that role, he developed and implemented a strategy to integrate new and social media into UK Athletics, including the launch of Cat Scratches, the official blog of UK Athletics.
Lindsey graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in print journalism in 2008.
As part of her new elevated role, Deb Moore will serve as the Coordinator of Men’s Basketball Game Day Media Operations. Moore will supervise the table crew, all media relations game day staff and media credentialing for home games at Rupp Arena in addition to her other responsibilities with men’s basketball and volleyball.
