LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky men’s soccer sophomore Napo Matsoso was named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, after he posted the 10th hat trick in UK history on Saturday.

Matsoso scored the first three goals of the game in 19th-ranked UK’s 4-3 win over South Carolina on Saturday.

With Matsoso’s honor, a Wildcat was named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week for the second Monday in a row, as Justin Laird picked up the award last week.

UK has had six C-USA Player of the Week honors this year, tying the school record set in 2008.

Matsoso’s hat trick was the first of his career, eventually helping the Wildcats to their fifth-straight win.

UK extended its unbeaten streak to seven matches.

The sophomore netted a pair of top-quality goals in the first half and one 10 minutes after the break. Matsoso completed the hat trick in the 55th minute, finishing a cutback pass for the second time on the night.

The hat trick was the 10th in UK program history and the second by a C-USA player this season. His four goals this year rank 10th in C-USA and his 12 points tie for ninth. In league games, the Louisville, Kentucky, native’s ranking within the conference is boosted to second in goals (four) and points (nine).

This is Matsoso’s first C-USA Player of the Week honor of his career.
