LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky senior defensive end/linebacker Alvin “Bud” Dupree was honored as a Lott IMPACT Trophy Player of the Week and junior Landon Foster was tabbed honorable mention punter performer of the week by the College Football Performance Awards, it was announced.
Dupree, a native of Irwinton, Ga., was one of six players nationally honored as Lott IMPACT Players of the Week, with the winner to be determined through online voting and a national voter panel. One of 20 quarterfinalists for the Lott IMPACT Trophy, Dupree led UK with 10 tackles, two quarterback hurries and one sack vs. No. 1 Mississippi State. Dupree’s two QB hurries led to big plays, as one forced an interception and another that forced a fourth-down stop in the second half.
In his career, Dupree ranks second in Kentucky history with 20 sacks – leading all active Southeastern Conference players – totaling 30.5 tackles for loss and 218 tackles. Dupree, a midseason second-team All-SEC selection by Phil Steele, has 45 tackles in 2014, with four sacks, six tackles for loss, an interception, pass break-up and blocked kick.
A native of Franklin, Tenn., Foster had a strong game vs. MSU, punting six times for a 47.8-yard average. Foster dropped three punts inside the 20-yard line and had a long of 58 yards, just one yard shy of his career best. Foster has punted 40 times in 2014, with a 42.2-yard average, with a career-high 20 punts inside the 20. Foster has a 42.1-yard average on 169 punts in his career, with 48 downed inside the 20.
Kentucky (5-3, 2-3 SEC) returns to action on Saturday, traveling to face Missouri at 4 p.m. ET, with the game televised live on SEC Network. The game will also be broadcast live on the UK Radio Network, with Tom Leach, Jeff Piecoro and Dick Gabriel voicing the action.
Kentucky vs. Georgia at 12 p.m. ET at Commonwealth Stadium: Kentucky’s home finale vs. Georgia has been slated for a Noon kickoff at Commonwealth Stadium with the game televised live on ESPN.
