LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky men’s soccer sophomore Jordan Wilson was named Conference USA Co-Defender of the Week on Monday after he was a central figure in UK’s two shutout victories last week. New Mexico’s Riley McGovern was co-player of the week alongside Wilson.
Wilson started and played all 90 minutes in each of UK’s victories over No. 21 UAB and Marshall respectively.
The sophomore made key tackles and clearances throughout both games to preserve the clean sheets.
Wilson has started every game this year for the Wildcats, playing an integral role in a defensive unit that is third in the NCAA with a 0.40 goals-against average, allowing just five goals in 12 matches. UK has posted a C-USA best eight shutouts to tie for third in the NCAA.
Monday’s honor was the first C-USA Player of the Week honor of Wilson’s career.
UK will return to action on Wednesday with a 8 p.m. ET visit to Evansville.
