LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky junior Josh Forrest has been tabbed an honorable mention for Linebacker Performer of the Week after totaling two tackles for a loss and a game-winning interception return for a touchdown in UK’s win over Louisiana-Monroe, it was announced by the College Football Performance Awards on Monday.

A native of Paducah, Ky., Forrest totaled five tackles, including two tackles for loss and half a sack in UK’s win over ULM. Forrest totaled his second career interception, returning it 29 yards for a touchdown, with his score accounting for the game-winning points and pushing UK to a 17-14 lead. It marked the second consecutive week that the Wildcats scored the game-winning points on an interception return for a touchdown as Bud Dupree picked off a pass vs. South Carolina and trotted into the end zone for the win.

A 6-foot-3, 236-pounder, Forrest has started all six games for the Wildcats at middle linebacker in 2014, leading the team with 46 tackles. Forrest has added a sack and five tackles for loss, breaking up two passes and charting one QB hurry. In his three-year career, Forrest – who began his time at UK as a wide receiver – has 75 tackles in 27 games.

Kentucky (5-1, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) is off to its best start since the 2007 season and has won three consecutive games. UK will return to action on Saturday, traveling to LSU for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff on the SEC Network. The game will also be broadcast live on the UK Radio Network, with Tom Leach, Jeff Piecoro and Dick Gabriel voicing the action.

UK vs. No. 1 Mississippi State at 3:30 p.m.: Kentucky’s matchup with No. 1 Mississippi State on Oct. 25 at Commonwealth Stadium has been selected for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff with the game televised nationally on CBS. It will mark UK’s first appearance on CBS since traveling to Alabama in 2008.
