Men's Golf

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Following a brief hiatus, the Kentucky men’s golf team is set to return to the course for its third tournament of the fall slate Oct. 5-7. UK will compete in the Erin Hills Intercollegiate, a three-day, 54-hole event in Erin, Wisc., at the Erin Hills Golf Course.

“Erin Hills will host the 2017 U.S. Open,” UK coach Brian Craig said. “What a privilege it will be for our players to compete on a championship course. Playing courses like this will continue to prepare us for postseason competition. We had a very good qualifier this week and our players should be sharp and ready to play.”

Kentucky began the season with a top-five finish at The Invitational at the Ocean Course to begin its 2014-15 campaign. UK then was led by junior David Snyder’s fourth place finish at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate in the second tournament of the year.

Erin Hills, which opened in 2006, was the site of the 111th U.S. Amateur Championship in 2011, and is set to host the 2017 U.S. Open. The golf course was ranked No. 10 in Golf Digest’s latest list of America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses. Marquette University, also serving as tournament host in 2014, hosted the first-ever collegiate event at Erin Hills in October 2013.

Kentucky’s lineup features freshman Tyler ‘Chip’ McDaniel who has carded a pair of top 20 finishes to begin his collegiate career. In addition to placing fourth at Wolf Run, Snyder also turned in a top 20 finish at the Ocean Course and currently leads the team with a 73 stroke average.

Junior Harrison Greenberry, freshman Cooper Musselman and senior Will Bishop round out the lineup for the Wildcats. Junior Todd McDaniel will compete as an individual.

In addition to Kentucky, the three-day tournament field is comprised of Colorado State, Grand Canyon, Marquette, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, SMU, St. John’s, UCLA, USF and Wisconsin.

The teams will play 18 holes each day with tee times schedule for 8:30-10:10 a.m. CT off the first and 10th tees on the par-72 course.
