UK Men's Soccer to Host No. 9 Louisville on Tuesday

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky men’s soccer team’s Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex will be the site of an in-state rivalry match on Tuesday as the Wildcats host No. 9 Louisville at 7 p.m. ET.
The match has been designated an “Abe Out,” with multiple President Abraham Lincoln-themed promotions planned.
Tuesday’s match will pit the 4-2-1 Wildcats – unbeaten in their last four games, a run that included a win at then-top-ranked Notre Dame – against Louisville (3-1-1), winner of two-straight.
Kentucky leads the all-time series 10-5-4, and UK won the last meeting 1-0 at Louisville in 2012. The Cardinals won the three meetings prior in 2007, 2009 and 2010.
The match will be broadcast live on SEC Network+ with Neil Price calling the play-by-play and former UK star J.D. Stephenson handling the color commentary.
The Wildcats have built their recent run of strong results on a stingy defense anchored by two-time defending Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week Callum Irving.
In its four-match unbeaten streak, UK has not conceded a goal. In fact, the Wildcats have only allowed two goals in seven matches this year.
UK has not allowed a goal in the last 414 minutes to be exact, while the team’s offense has begun to click – with the last outing, a 0-0 draw with No. 19 Furman, as an exception.
Senior forward Justin Laird has scored two goals in his last three outings, including the golden goal in overtime against Xavier.
Three Wildcats, Napo Matsoso, Sam Miller and Charlie Reymann, lead the team with two assists each this season.
Admission to the game for all fans will be one penny each, with no change given. Proceeds from each penny ticket sold will go to the Mary Todd Lincoln House.
Additionally the first 500 UK fans in attendance will receive a free UK men’s soccer shirt that also includes Lincoln’s likeness.
Fans are also encouraged to attend the match dressed in mid-19th century attire (top hats, bow ties and puffy shirts are welcome).
The promotional campaign is built on the premise that the Wildcats were Lincoln’s team, as the 16th President of the United States was born in Kentucky.
Students are offered a free ride to The Bell with a shuttle picking up at “The 90” on Woodland Ave., beginning at 6 p.m. ET.
The match is also Lexington Youth Soccer Association night, with free admission offered to people from the LYSA. Registered members of the Junior Wildcat Club will also be granted free admission.
The Mary Todd Lincoln House is owned by the Commonwealth of Kentucky and is maintained and operated by the Kentucky Mansions Preservation Foundation, Inc.
The purpose and major activity of the Kentucky Mansions Preservation Foundation, Inc., shall be to recognize and assist in rescue, renovation and preservation efforts for historic structures and sites throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky, to provide educational opportunities for the membership and the general public on preservation and Kentucky history, and to provide management, maintenance and support for the Mary Todd Lincoln House in Lexington, Kentucky.
