LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team will see unprecedented media coverage in the 2014 season, as the Wildcats will see all of their home matches featured on SEC Network+, as well as WatchESPN and the WatchESPN app. In addition to all 10 home matches being available on SECN+, Kentucky’s entire SEC slate of matches, home and away, will also be featured on SECN+.
“The exposure that our team and conference will have this season is second to none,” UK head coach Jon Lipsitz said. “To be able to broadcast to 90 million people each night provides us a great platform for us to expose our sparkling new facility as well as the great on-field product of SEC soccer. Our thanks goes out to the SEC and ESPN for all of their efforts and we can’t wait to use this as another stepping stone in the building of our program and our Big Blue Nation fanbase.”
The 12 SECN+ matches are in addition to the three already scheduled televised matches, which will remain the same, as the Wildcats will face Missouri and Florida on the SEC Network, scheduled to launch on Thursday, and also facing Texas A&M on ESPNU.
With 10 home matches this season, the brand new Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex will see over 870 million possible unique visitors during the 2014 home season. With major satellite companies DirecTV and DISH signing deals with the SEC Network as well as Time Warner Cable and Comcast providers, over 87 million unique viewers will be able to watch the SEC Network at launch, and receive the SECN+ and digital platform of the network.
In addition to the SEC matches and home non-conference matches, Kentucky will also have the opportunity to be televised again three more times, as the SEC Network, SECN+, WatchESPN and the WatchESPN app will carry all nine matches of the 2014 SEC Soccer Tournament in Orange Beach, Ala.
Kentucky will kick off the 2014 season in Seattle, Wash., against the Washington Huskies at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT on Friday, Aug. 22 followed by a match against Seattle U on Aug. 24 at 3 p.m. ET.
