ATHENS, Ga. – In their NCAA Doubles Championships debut, senior duo Caitlin McGraw and Cece Witten fell 6-3, 6-4 to Northwestern’s Alicia Barnett and Veronica Corning, Thursday, in the first round of the tournament hosted by the University of Georgia at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

In the first set, the pair was down 2-1 before tying the set at three games apiece. Fighting hard to take the lead, Witten and McGraw, who are ranked 34th nationally, weren’t able to withstand the purple Wildcats and eventually dropped the set, 6-3.

The second set looked to be more promising as the two pulled out to a 2-1 lead, their first of the match. They expanded their lead to 4-2, but Barnett and Corning wouldn’t back down. The No. 29 twosome rallied back and won four straight games to take the match.

Witten and McGraw finish the season 12-10, 5-6 SEC. Their season is highlighted by a nine-match win-streak and wins over Auburn’s No. 15 Pleun Burgmans and Emily Flickinger and South Carolina’s No. 26 Dominika Kanakova and Elixane Lechemia.
