LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky senior men’s golfer Cody Martin has been named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, the league office announced Friday afternoon.

The honor marks the second year in a row that Martin has earned SEC Community Service Team honors. The Union, Ky., native has spent time volunteering with the Great Leaps Program at Cassidy Elementary School, CATS Cultivating Character, Shriners Hospital, Breakfast with Santa, Salvation Army Bell Ringing, and the God’s Panty Back Pack program. He is also a two-time Academic All-SEC honoree.

On the course, Martin has competed in all 10 tournaments this season for the Wildcats, while ranking fourth on the team in stroke average at 73.40. Martin has two top-10 finishes and four total top 20 finishes this season. His best tournament came at the Invitational at The Ocean Course where he placed fourth with a 5-under par, 211 (70-68-73).

The annual SEC golf Community Service Team recognizes the superior community service efforts of the league’s student-athletes. The SEC Community Service Team consists of one student-athlete from each SEC institution, nominated by his school’s personnel, who has devoted himself to community service.

The SEC names a Community Service Team for each of its 21 league-sponsored sports, looking to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to his or her community through superior service efforts.
