LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 32 University of Kentucky women’s tennis will travel to Charlottesville, Va., to face Columbia University, Friday, May 9, in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Tennis Tournament hosted by the University of Virginia at the Snyder Tennis Center. The match will begin at 10 a.m. ET. 

Kentucky (16-11, 6-9 SEC) is competing in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2009. This will be the team’s 21st NCAA Championship berth in school history. The Wildcat’s at-large bid into the tournament follows the best season the team has had since 2008. Kentucky won 16 matches including six wins over ranked opponents and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Southeastern Conference Tournament.  The Wildcats boast two ranked doubles teams in seniors Cece Witten and Caitlin McGraw, who are ranked 40th in the nation, and No. 54 Nadia Ravita and Aldila Sutjiadi. Ravita is also ranked 47th in singles. 

Columbia went 16-4 overall this season and 5-2 in Ivy League play and earned their first trip to the NCAA Championships in school history. The Lions are lead by Tina Jiang, who is undefeated at the No. 2 and No. 3 singles positions and is on a 16 match win streak in doubles when paired with Crystal Leung.
