STATESBORO, Ga. – Paced by junior David Snyder’s 68 on Friday, the University of Kentucky men’s golf team sits in a tie for ninth place after 18 holes at the Schenkel Invitational. Snyder is tied for first place with North Florida’s Taylor Hancock. Second round action begins Saturday at 9 a.m. ET.

The Wildcats posted a team score of six-over par, 294, on Friday, as Snyder was the lone UK player to post an even par or better round. No. 14 UAB sits atop the standings at three-under par, 285, while Georgia Southern (-2), No. 10 Virginia (+2), No. 15 Texas (+2), College of Charleston (+2) and Ole Miss (+2) complete the top five.

Rounding out the rest of the team standings were North Florida (+3), No. 6 UCF (+6), Florida (+9), Duke (+9), Maryland (+11), Georgia State (+13) and North Texas (+21).

“Give David Snyder credit,” said Kentucky head coach Brian Craig. “He pretty much held the entire team together today with a great round. Overall, we did not play our best but we are still in it. We just need to come out tomorrow and execute better and stay patient.”

Snyder poured in five birdies on the afternoon, while only recording one bogey. His four-under par, 68 is the second-lowest score of the season for the Somerset, Ky., native. It marks his third sub-70 round this season and first since he scored a 69 at the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic in October.

Senior Stephen Powers registered the second-best score of the day for UK with a one-over par, 73. Powers is tied for 27th after a birdie on the 18th hole. Junior Will Bishop scored a four-over par, 76, which places him in a tie for 57th.

Seniors Cody Martin and Ben Stow round out the UK lineup after posting a five-over par, 77 and seven-over par, 79, respectively. Martin will enter Saturday’s play tied for 68th and Stow tied for 78th.

Playing as an individual, freshman Hager Collins finished at 10-over par, 82, to tie him for 88th
