LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky gymnastics team will host its annual Blue/White Intrasquad meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET in Memorial Coliseum.
Admission is free and the team will sign autographs following the competition. All fans in attendance will also be able to pick up the free 2014 gymnastics schedule poster.
The event will be UK’s first chance to compete in Memorial Coliseum this season and will act as a final tune-up before the 2014 campaign begins a month later.
The Wildcats, who finished 21st in the national rankings last season, return 14 gymnasts from the 2013 squad that posted the program’s highest-ever NCAA Regional team score of 195.575. UK earned a Regional bid with a school-record regional qualifying score of 196.06 and notched three wins against SEC opponents, the most in program history.
The 2014 campaign officially kicks off at home with Excite Night at the Kentucky Classic on Jan. 10. As part of the four-team event, UK hosts Penn State, West Virginia and Ball State at 7 p.m.
UK returns to Lexington on Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. to face Florida, the defending NCAA and SEC champion. The meet against the Gators will be the annual Pink Out at Memorial Coliseum. On Feb. 28, Kentucky hosts Auburn before the Wildcats welcome California and Centenary to Memorial Coliseum on March 7 for senior night, both at 7 p.m.
