LEXINGTON, Ky. – Competing in a field of 67 athletes, University of Kentucky swimmer Eric Bruck placed 21st overall in the 50 yard freestyle at the 2013 AT&T Winter National Championships Thursday in Knoxville, Tenn.

UK’s lone swimmer in the three-day USA Swimming event, Bruck swam a 19.96 in the prelims to advance to the C Finals. His time was one of just 20 to be below 20.00 seconds. He was just 0.04 seconds shy of advancing to the B Finals and a top-16 finish.

In the finals, the Lexington native swam a 20.00 to place fifth in the C Finals and 21st over. Among swimmers competing for a collegiate team in the 50 free, Bruck finished seventh and was one of just nine to advance to one of three finals.

Select UK divers will compete at the USA Diving Winter National Championships Dec. 17-22 in Austin, Texas. Kentucky will also compete at the Georgia Diving Invitational Jan. 3-5 in Athens, Ga.

The spring season officially resumes when UK travels to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to race SEC-foes Alabama and Arkansas on Jan. 11.
