Time Warner Cable to Show the UK- UT Arlington Basketball Game

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Time Warner Cable has announced that it will televise the CSS broadcast of Tuesday’s Kentucky-UT Arlington men’s basketball game.

Scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. ET tip, the game can be seen on the former Insight cable in Louisville, Lexington, Covington, Bowling Green, Ky., and Evansville Ind.

Customers with a digital set-top-box and subscription to Basic/Classic service can access the game on channel 505.  Customers with QAM tuner TVs (rescan may be required) can access the game on the following channels: Bowling Green 12.3; Evansville 16.3; Covington 17.3; Louisville 77.3; Lexington 16.3.

Scouting the Mavericks

UT Arlington enters the matchup with the Wildcats owning a 2-2 overall record. The Mavericks own victories over Samford and Howard Payne, with losses coming to Boise State and Cleveland State.

Senior guard Reger Dowell leads four players in double-figure scoring with 26.0 points per game. He dropped a season-high of 35 against Howard Payne as the Mavericks scored 111 points in that game. Senior forward Brandon Edwards is currently averaging a double-double with 17.5 points and 11.3 boards per outing. Juniors Lonnie McLanahan and Vicent Dillard are scoring at a rate of 14.3 and 10.5 points per game, respectively.

Head Coach Scott Cross

Scott Cross has presided over the most successful era in Maverick Basketball since taking over the program in in 2006. Cross has compiled a record of 124-98 over seven-plus seasons. Of the top five seasons in UT Arlington history, Cross has coached three of those teams, including the top two.

The Mavericks have gone to the postseason three times under his watch, including back-to-back trips in 2011-12 and 2012-13. That marked the first consecutive postseasons in program history. Over that two-year span, only two programs of Texas’ 21 Division I programs own more wins than the Mavericks’ 43.

UT Arlington had only one postseason trip in the 46 years prior to Cross’ arrival. He’s the only men’s basketball coach in school history with a winning record.

During his first seven seasons, Cross guided the Mavericks to a postseason tournament appearances in NCAA (2008), NIT (2012) and CIT (2013). UT Arlington won a SLC Tournament Championship in 2008, and won the 2011-12 regular season Southland Conference Championship. The Mavericks reached the championship game of the WAC Tournament in 2013.

Coach Cross was named 2012 Southland Conference Coach of the Year, 2012 NABC District 23 Coach of the Year and a 2012 Finalist for the Hugh Durham National Coach of the Year.

Calipari vs. UT Arlington

UK coach John Calipari has tangled with the Mavericks once in his career during NCAA Tournament play in 2008.

UT Arlington, making its NCAA tournament debut, actually led the top-seeded Tigers in the opening minutes. Chris Douglas-Roberts’ layup sparked a 15-2 run that effectively ended any hopes the Mavericks had for a momentous upset, and Memphis cruised to an 87-63 victory in the first round of the South Regional.

Douglas-Roberts led five Tigers in double figures with 23 points, and he also had seven rebounds, four assists and a steal. Derrick Rose and Antonio Anderson added 17 points each for Memphis, which improved to 34-1 with its eighth straight victory.

Kentucky vs. the Sun Belt

The Wildcats own an all-time record of 9-3 against members of the Sun Belt Conference. UK has faced Western Kentucky more than any other team in the league, and the Blue and White owns a 4-2 mark against the Hilltoppers.
