Team Records and Series Notes

• With the win, Kentucky improved to 2-6 and with the loss, Alabama State dropped to 6-3.
• The Kentucky win snapped a six-game winning streak for the Hornets and marked their first loss since Sept. 7 at Jackson State.
• This was the first meeting between the teams.
• Kentucky is now 48-20 in Homecoming games since 1946.
• Kentucky returns to action Sat. Nov. 9 as the Wildcats play host to Missouri. Game time is set for noon.

• Kentucky has played seven Thursday night games in school history, including Oct. 24 at Mississippi State. UK has played nine days later on six occasions after a Thursday night game. UK is 6-0 in those games.
• Kentucky drove for an opening-game touchdown for the third time in 2013 and the first since facing No. 19/20 Florida on Sept. 28. 
• Junior WR Demarco Robinson recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown in the first quarter.
  • It marked the first fumble recovered in the end zone for a touchdown for UK since Otis Grigsby’s fumble recovery to end a Nov. 16, 2002 game vs. Vanderbilt.
• Kentucky finished with 196 yards rushing in the first half, its most in the first half in 2013.
• Kentucky blocked an ASU punt in the second quarter, credited to sophomore LB Josh Forrest.
  • It marked UK’s first blocked punt since DeMarcus Sweat vs. South Carolina in 2012.
• The Wildcats extended their stretch of games without a turnover to a school-record four, with game-by-game records dating back to 1946.
• UK was a season-best on third-down conversions, going 8-for-17 (47-percent).
• Kentucky forced a season-high five fumbles, securing two ASU miscues. 
• The Wildcats limited Alabama State to 297 total yards of offense, UK’s second-best defensive performance of 2013. UK held Miami (Ohio) to just 122 yards of total offense earlier in the year.
• Kentucky scored 48 points, marking its highest scoring output since scoring 49 points against Charleston Southern on Nov. 6, 2010.

Individual Notes

• Junior QB Jalen Whitlow rushed a career-long 88 yards for a touchdown on UK’s opening possession, his fourth rushing TD of the year and the seventh of his career.
  • It marked the longest rush by a player in the Southeastern Conference in 2013, topping Alabama’s Derrick Henry, who had an 80-yard rush vs. Arkansas on Oct. 19.
  • It was the longest rush, by either team, in the history of Commonwealth Stadium.
  • It marked the second-longest rush in Kentucky history and the longest rush every by a Kentucky quarterback.
  • The rush was the fourth-longest in the NCAA in 2013 and the longest by a quarterback since Northern Illinois QB Jordan Lynch scampered 88 yards in 2012.
    • Lynch’s 90-yard rush in 2010 marks the last rushing play by a QB longer than 88 yards.
  • He finished 16-for-26 with 186 yards and two TDs in the air.
  • He rushed for a career-high 101 yards on 10 carries, with two touchdowns.
    • It marked the first 100-yard rushing performance for a Kentucky QB since WR turned QB Matt Roark rushed 24 times for 124 yards in a win over Tennessee on Nov. 26, 2011.
    • He is just the fifth UK quarterback since 1983 to rush for 100 or more yards, joining Roark, Shane Boyd (130, vs. Indiana, 2004), Pookie Jones (138, vs. Kent State, 1993) and Randall Cobb (three games during his career)
    • It marked UK’s first 100-yard rushing performance since Raymond Sanders ran for 123 yards vs. Samford in 2012.
    • Whitlow is the first UK quarterback to rush for two TDs and throw for two TDs since Shane Boyd vs. Indiana in 2004.
• Senior RB Raymond Sanders rushed nine times for 29 yards.
  • oHe now has 1,448 rushing yards in his career to move to a tie for No. 18 in UK history with Bobby Cravens (1956-58; 1,448).
• Sophomore punter Landon Foster booted a 58-yard punt in the first quarter, equaling his career long, done three times in 2013.
  • Foster finished with five punts for a 49-yard average.
• Freshman WR Alexander Montgomery hauled in a six-yard touchdown in the first half, marking his second TD catch of the year and his first since a three-yard grab vs. No. 7/7 Louisville.
• Senior TE Anthony Kendrick made his first start of the year and his second career start. It marked his first start since 2010.
• Freshman RB Jojo Kemp rushed for his third touchdown of the year.
  • He finished with 13 rushes for 67 yards and one TD.
• Sophomore DB Fred Tiller charted two pass break ups, his first career two pass break-up game since breaking up two passes vs. Mississippi State in 2012.
  • Tiller finished with four tackles, including his first tackle for a loss.
• Sophomore LB Khalid Henderson recorded his first career sack in the first half.
• In the second quarter, junior DL Mike Douglas recovered his first career fumble.
• Senior DL Donte Rumph notched his second QB hurry of the year.
  • Rumph finished with three tackles.
• Sophomore LB Josh Forrest blocked a punt in the second quarter, his first punt block of the year and his second blocked kick of 2013.
• Junior Alvin “Bud” Dupree recorded a sack and forced a fumble in the second quarter.
  • He now has 5.5 sacks on the year and 14.5 in his three-year career.
  • It marked his second fumble forced in 2013 and the second of his career.
• Sophomore RB Dyshawn Mobley rushed a season-high eight times for a season-long 36 yards.
• Sophomore WR Joey Herrick caught a career-high two passes for a career-long 15 yards.
• Junior WR Jeff Badet caught a career-high four balls for a career-long 48 yards.
• Senior LB Avery Williamson finished the game with two tackles, snapping his streak of 26 consecutive games with at least three tackles.
• Junior TE Steven Borden hauled in his first career TD catch, a 38-yard grab in the third quarter.
• Junior Joe Mansour connected on a 39-yard field goal in the second quarter.
  • He is now 9-for-10 on the year and is 3-for-3 from 30-39 yards in 2013.
• Junior DL Za’Darius Smith had his team-high fifth QB hurry of the year.
