LEXINGTON, Ky. – Looking to end the fall season on a positive note, the No. 23 University of Kentucky women’s golf team will head to the West Coast Oct. 25-27 for the Stanford Intercollegiate in Palo Alto, Calif. The three-day, 54-hole tournament boasts some of the top teams and players in the country and will be held at the Stanford Golf Course.

Kentucky will try to record its third top-five finish in four competitions this fall, after claiming a first place finish at the “MO”Morial Invitational and fifth place at the Schooner Fall Classic. Senior Liz Breed has been playing her best golf of late, as she claimed second place at the Schooner Fall Classic after a final round personal-best score of six-under par, 64. Breed has finished in the top 10 in two of the three tournaments so far this season.

UK will use the lineup of Breed, Haley Mills, Sarah Harris, Cylia Damerau and Alessandra Walker. Freshman Megan Kinney will compete as an individual. The tournament is hosted by Condoleezza Rice, the Thomas and Barbara Stephenson Senior Fellow on Public Policy at Stanford’s Hoover Institution.

“We are looking forward to getting on the road again with the team,” said Kentucky head coach Golda Johansson Borst. “We have been home for about two weeks and have had plenty of time to prepare for Stanford. This is a great golf course and I am excited to see how the girls will adjust to the conditions of playing on the West Coast. I can’t believe it’s the last event of the fall and I know the girls are all ready to finish strong.”

Eighteen holes will be played Friday through Sunday, with fixed tee times on hole No. 1 and No. 10 starting at 11:30 a.m. ET on Friday and Saturday. The final round of 18 holes on Sunday will begin at 10:30 a.m. The Stanford Golf Course will feature a par-71 (35-36), 6,130-yard setup.

The three-day tournament will feature 16 teams, including eight programs ranked in the top 25 of the GolfWorld/WGCA Coaches Poll. Joining the No. 23 Wildcats are No. 1 USC, No. 2 UCLA, No. 10 Stanford, No. 11 Washington, No. 17 Vanderbilt, No. 18 Pepperdine, No. 21 California, Auburn, Georgia, Northwestern, Oregon, Oregon State, San Jose State, UC Davis and Washington State.
