NORMAN, Okla. – The No. 22 University of Kentucky women’s golf team moved up two spots to sit in fifth place at 36-over par on Sunday afternoon after two rounds of the Schooner Fall Classic at the Belmar Golf Club.

LSU sits atop the standings at 26-over par, 586, while Arizona State (+28), Oklahoma State (+29), Oklahoma (+33) and Kentucky (+36) complete the top five. LSU’s Caroline Nistrup sits atop the leaderboard at two-under par, as the only competitor under par.

Rounding out the rest of the team standings were Florida State (+41), Kent State (+41), Texas State (+41), Pepperdine (+42), TCU (+44), Denver (+45), Texas A&M (+47), SMU (+48), Texas Tech (+58) and Georgia (+59).

“We played pretty solid for most of the day,” said Kentucky head coach Golda Johansson Borst. “The girls handled the tough conditions better and made better decisions throughout the day. However, we gave away some shots at the end of our round, but we learned from them and can’t wait to get after it tomorrow.”

Entering Sunday’s round, senior Liz Breed was tied for ninth at two-over. Breed posted a second round score of two-over par, 72, to give her an overall score of four-over par after two days. She recorded three more birdies on the day to give her five for the tournament. The Waynesboro, Pa., native will go into the final round tied for sixth.

Sophomore Cylia Damerau registered a team-high four birdies during her round of 18 on Sunday. Damerau turned in a scorecard of two-over par, 72, to put her in a tie for 16th at eight-over par overall. The Cham, Switzerland, native made the turn after the first nine holes and birdied three straight holes on Nos. 10, 11 and 12 to begin the back nine.

Making the biggest improvement from the first to second round was sophomore Sarah Harris who shaved off five strokes on Sunday. Harris shot an eight-over par first round, but came back to shoot a three-over par, 73, today. She is tied for 34th at 11-over par.

Freshman Haley Mills finished the day with a nine-over par, 79 to place her in a tie for 39th at 13-over par. Mills had two birdies on the day, but finished with two double-bogeys and a triple bogey on the 18th hole.

Rounding out the Wildcat lineup was freshman Alessandra Walker who posted a 12-over par, 82 on day two. Walker will go into the final round tied for 66th at 20-over par.

OK Kids Korral is an Oklahoma 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization and a project of the Toby Keith Foundation. OK Kids Korral is located at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and will serve as a cost free home away from home for children battling cancer.
