LEXINGTON, Ky. — After one of the greatest seasons in UK diving history, junior diver Greg Ferrucci was named the K-Association Male Athlete of the Year at the University of Kentucky’s 11th annual CATSPY Awards. The event recognizes athletic and academic performances during the 2012-13 season.
Ferrucci also was awarded Male Performance of the Year for his three top-four finishes at the 2013 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Indianapolis, Ind., where he placed fourth in all three diving events (1-meter, 3-meter, platform) in which he earned All-America status in each.
With the performance at the NCAAs, his third consecutive appearance at the championships, Ferrucci became the program’s diver to achieve All-America honors in all three events in one season. With nine individual victories on the year including two at the Zone C Diving Championships and several records broken along the way, he now owns program-high six-dive scores in each event, all broken during clutch performances in the postseason.
Ferrucci was not the only member of the swimming and diving team to be recognized at the awards ceremony. Senior swimmer Jon Keltner was named Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year for incredible works in the class room. Keltner shined as a double major in Finance and Business Management and holds a collegiate GPA of 3.944.
