ST. SIMMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Round two of the Southeastern Conference men’s golf championships wrapped up on Saturday with Kentucky currently in 14th place at 33-over-par. South Carolina leads the field at 5-under-par. The final round of the 54-hole tournament is scheduled for Sunday.
We did a very poor job of handling the bad end of the draw today,” head coach Brian Craig said. “First out is normally good in this game but today was different and being 16 over through six holes was simply not acceptable even in the most difficult weather. The good news is tomorrow will be a windy day and that gives us a chance to finish strong and move up the leader board. We need a good one tomorrow.”
Junior Ben Stow recorded the low score of the afternoon for the Wildcats for the second consecutive day. The Salisbury, England native was 2-over-par on Saturday, sinking birdies on the ninth and 15th hole. Stow is in 18th position overall at 2-over-par for the invitational.
Sophomore Will Bishop shot 5-over for the day and is tied for 61st at 12-over-par, while junior Stephen Powers was 6-over on Saturday and is tied for 54th at 10-over.
Chase Parker (+12) is tied for 61st, while Cody Martin (+15) is in 68th.
The final round of the SEC Championships is scheduled to conclude on Sunday. Martin will tee off first for the Cats off of hole No. 10 at 8 a.m. ET. Parker, Bishop, Powers and Stow will follow, respectively, in 10 minute intervals.
