LEXINGTON, Ky. — After a grueling four-game road trip at top-10 foes, No. 13 Kentucky will begin a five-game homestand by hosting 25-win Austin Peay on Tuesday, with first pitch slated for 6:30 p.m. ET at Cliff Hagan Stadium.
Kentucky (22-9) will send freshman right-hander Kyle Cody (2-1, 5.25 ERA) to the mound for his fifth career start. He will face AP junior southpaw Zach Hall (3-1, 6.34 ERA). The 6-foot-7, 230-pound freshman, has worked 24 innings in 2013, allowing 22 hits and seven walks, striking out 21. In his last start, Cody posted a quality outing in a win at No. 9 Louisville. Cody worked 6.1 innings, allowing four hits and three runs – two earned – walking one and striking out four. Hall has worked 32.2 innings, allowing 42 hits and walking 18, striking out 21.

The Wildcats are coming off a four-game road trip that saw UK post a 5-4, 10-inning win over No. 9 Louisville, before UK ventured to No. 2 LSU. The Wildcats suffered an 11-1 loss in the opener, a 9-1 loss on Saturday before the Tigers swept UK with an 11-4 win to set a new program record with a 30-2 start to 2013.
UK has hit .278 as a team, with a .391 slugging and a .386 on-base percentage, belting 19 homers and stealing 40 bases. On the mound, UK has a 3.00 team ERA, walking only 78 in 276 innings, striking out 223.
UK has been led offensively by junior J.T. Riddle, who has hit .322 with six doubles, one triple, one homer and 17 RBI, stealing five bases. Sophomore A.J. Reed has belted eight homers and has 33 RBI, batting .319, with Barrett hitting .316 with three doubles and five RBI. All-America centerfielder Austin Cousino has a .298 average with eight doubles, one triple, four homers and 21 RBI, stealing 10 bases. Catcher Micheal Thomas has added a .284 average with two homers and 18 RBI.
On the mound, UK has used the weekend rotation of Reed (2-4, 3.06 ERA), Jerad Grundy (5-3, 3.46 ERA) and Corey Littrell (4-1, 2.72 ERA). In relief, Trevor Gott (4-0, 1.06 ERA) has seven saves in nine chances, striking out 20 and walking three in 17 innings. Senior Walter Wijas (2-0, 0.57 ERA) has appeared in 14 games, with Chandler Shepherd (1-0, 3.77 ERA) appearing in 12 games.
Austin Peay (25-7) is off to a dynamic start to the season, batting .297 as a team with a .414 slugging and a .400 on-base percentage, stealing 37 bases. Austin Peay has fielded .969 as a team, turning 21 double plays and allowing 54 steals. On the mound, AP has a 4.62 ERA with 13 saves, working 292 innings, walking 145 and striking out 251.
Individually, AP has been led by Jordan Hankins, who has hit .364 with eight doubles, five homers and 30 RBI. Craig Massoni has hit .361 with nine doubles, six homers and 35 RBI, while Cody Hudson has hit .354 with a team-high 15 doubles, one triple, one homer and 23 RBI, stealing 12 bags. Rolando Gautier has a .328 average with seven doubles and 13 RBI. Dylan Riner has a .315 average with six doubles, while Reed Harper has a .300 average with three homers and 28 RBI.
In the bullpen, Austin Peay has been led by the brother of former UK star Taylor Rogers, Tyler. Tyler Rogers has appeared in 20 games as the school single season and career record holder for saves. Rogers has 12 saves and a 5-0 record with a 1.93 ERA in 20 games, walking 18 and striking out 23 in 23.1 innings, allowing only 12 hits. Ryan Quick (3-2, 8.06 ERA) has appeared in 13 games, with 28 strikeouts in 25.2 innings. Tommy Hager (0-0, 4.02 ERA), Hunter Lindley (0-1, 5.62 ERA) and Don Whitson (1-0, 9.00 ERA) have each appeared in double-digit games.
UK leads the all-time series with Austin Peay, 10-2, including an 8-1 all-time mark in games played in Lexington. The two teams have not met since 2002, with UK winning the last four consecutive meetings.

UK will utilize two lots: the C8 lot behind Shively Sports Center, and brand-new Parking Structure 7 on the corner of Complex Drive and Jerry Claiborne Way. Both parking lots are only steps away from Cliff Hagan Stadium.
Fans who park in the PS7 lot will be given a parking value card to exit the structure free of charge. Value cards should be picked up at the baseball ticket booth prior to the fifth inning.
Fans should not use the university “R” lots adjacent to the dorms or on the south side of Nutter Training Facility. These lots are patrolled by the university 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Fans that park in these lots may be ticketed or towed. Plenty of parking is available in the C8 and PS7 lots.
