LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team will face two top-30 teams this weekend, traveling to Knoxville, Tenn., on Friday at 5 p.m. to face No. 28 Tennessee, before heading to Athens, Ga., to face the fifth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs on Sunday at 1 p.m.
After going 2-2 in a two-week conference home stand, Kentucky ranks 46th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s latest rankings. The Wildcats are coming over a 7-0 win over Mississippi State on Sunday, with Kentucky just dropping one doubles match in the win.
Tennessee is 5-6 on the year, including 3-2 in conference play. The Vols are coming off a 4-0 loss on the road vs. No. 4 Florida on Sunday. On Friday, Tennessee defeated No. 32 South Carolina in Columbia, S.C., 4-2.
The Vols boast two players ranked in the top-40, including No. 20 Brynn Boren and No. 40 Kata Szekely.
Georgia went 1-1 this past weekend, falling 4-1 at Florida on Friday and defeating South Carolina 7-0 on Sunday. The Bulldogs are now 11-2 on the year and 4-1 in the SEC. The Bulldogs have two individuals in the top-20, with Lauren Herring ranked No. 7 and Maho Kowase ranking 17th.
Kentucky is 12-5 on the year, 3-3 in Southeastern Conference contests.
