LEXINGTON, Ky. – Five Kentucky track and field team members were named First Team All-Americans, the United States Track and Field Cross Country and Track and Field Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Monday.
Four competitors from the No. 20 women’s team (Cally Macumber, Chelsea Oswald, Allison Peare and Morganne Phillips), and one men’s team member (Keith Hayes) earned the honors.
All five athletes Kentucky sent to the 2013 NCAA Indoor Championships earned First-Team accolades in at least one event.
Macumber and Oswald claimed the award in two events, the 3,000 meters and distance medley relay, with Macumber making the First Team in both.
First-team honors were given to those who placed in the NCAA Championships’ top eight in an event or were a member of an eight-person final. Second team honors were earned by those who finished between ninth and 16th place.
Keith Hayes took seventh in the men’s 60-meter hurdles final with a time of 7.74 to earn Kentucky’s two points, after lowering the school record to 7.69 in the prelims.
Macumber won the bronze medal in the 3,000 meters, while Oswald took ninth in the event.
Oswald, Phillips, Peare and Macumber placed fifth in the DMR.
