FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships get under way on Friday with Keith Hayes and the women’s distance medley relay team set to represent Kentucky on day one of competition.
The NCAA Indoor Championships will take place March 8-9 in Fayetteville, Ark. inside the Randal Tyson Track Center on the University of Arkansas campus.
Hayes will compete in the 60-meter hurdles semifinal heat at approximately 7:20 p.m. ET. The women’s DMR squad of Cally Macumber, Morganne Phillips, Allison Peare and Chelsea Oswald will take the track at 9:45 p.m. ET in the event final.
Hayes posted a qualifying 60-meter hurdles time of 7.73 in his last chance qualifying meet this past weekend. That mark ranks No. 9 in the nation, and also registers as a new school record.
The Wildcat relay team’s qualifying time of 11:00.33 smashed the previous school record by more than 17 seconds. That performance gives Kentucky the No. 6 seed heading into Friday’s national championship race.
Macumber and Oswald are also scheduled to participate in the 3,000 meters final on Saturday giving the Kentucky women’s team three opportunities to score points this weekend.
The Kentucky women’s team checked in at No. 20 in this week’s USTFCCA rankings, the first time in top-25 this season.
Live coverage of the meet will be streamed on ESPN3.com with Dwight Stones, Larry Rawson and Lewis Johnson on the call. Flashresults.com will provide live results.
