LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky gymnastics team checked in at No. 20 in the latest GymInfo national poll, up a spot from a week ago.  

The Wildcats smashed the school record with a 196.5 team score in a win at Ball State on Sunday.

The rankings are based on teams’ regional qualifying score, and Kentucky’s March 4 RQS of 195.635 is a new school record.

“We are excited to have broken the record total team score, and set our regional qualifying score record in the same week,” head coach Tim Garrison said. “This team still has more to offer. Stay tuned.”

With Sunday’s result, Kentucky (6-4-1, 3-3-1 SEC) posted a team score of more than 196 two weeks in a row for the first time ever.

The Wildcats’ previous RQS school-record was 195.6, set in 2010.

 
Audrey Harrison won her fifth-consecutive individual all-around title with a huge career-high score of 39.425 against Ball State. The Knoxville, Tenn., native now has a Southeastern Conference-leading seven AA titles this season.

Harrison, a junior, also tied for the vault title with a career high 9.9. She now has 15 event crowns, and five 9.9s on all events in 2013. Harrison is ranked No. 18 in the individual all-around poll, with a RQS of 39.26.

Kentucky hosts Bowling Green on Friday inside Memorial Coliseum for the 2013 home finale at 7 p.m. ET.

The event will be Senior Night honoring three members of the UK gymnastics family in their final home meet.

The Wildcats are rated No. 16 on uneven bars, No. 13 on balance beam and No. 23 on floor exercise nationally.

RQS is calculated by taking a team/individual’s six best regular season meet scores, of which three must be away. The high score is eliminated and the remaining five scores are averaged. RQS is the basis for NCAA Regional meet selection.
