DADE CITY, Fla. – The University of Kentucky men’s golf team will return to the links on Sunday in the first round of the USF Invitational in Dade City, Fla. The Wildcats will play in the three-day tournament at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club, which features a par-72, 7,600-yard layout.
UK’s lineup will feature senior Chase Parker, juniors Cody Martin, Stephen Powers and Ben Stow, along with sophomore Will Bishop. Senior Joseph Barr will compete in the invitational as an individual.
Kentucky opened up its spring season at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate Feb. 18-19, where they placed 10th out of 16 teams in the field. Parker led the Wildcats, finishing tied for 16th at 4-over par, while Stow was tied for 27th at 6-over. Martin placed tied for 54th carding a score of 13-over, Bishop was tied for 56th at 15-over and Powers finished tied for 68th at 20-over.
“It is March and my teams have historically been ready to play starting now even though it is still very early in the spring season,” head coach Brian Craig said. “Our focus will be on giving our best effort and thinking in a positive manner that helps us reach our desired outcome. It will be as simple as that and let’s get after it.”
The No. 49 Wildcats will compete against 16 teams in Dade City, including two ranked in the Golfstat Top-50. No. 16 Florida State and No. 43 South Carolina highlight the field, which also includes Cincinnati, DePaul, Eastern Michigan, Kennesaw State, Louisville, Marquette, Mercer, Middle Tennessee State, N.C. State, Rice, South Florida, Troy, Virginia and Wisconsin.
