FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Daniel Buckles set a new personal record in three of the four heptathlon events in which he competed on Friday at the SEC Indoor Championships.
Buckles began the day with a time of 7.60 in the 60-meter dash. With no other Wildcats competing on Friday, Buckles was supported inside the Randal Tyson Track Center by the entire Kentucky track and field team for the first two events.
With all his teammates cheering him on, the sophomore reached a new long jump personal-best of 6.50 meters / 21’4.0”, eliciting a huge roar from the Kentucky contingent in the stands.
He then produced a top shot put mark of 11.32 meters/37’01.75” before completing his career day with a PR high jump 1.86 meters/6’01.25”. Buckles finished the day with 2,622 points to put him in 11th place.
Kentucky is set for a busy Saturday of action with nearly 40 competitors set to see participate.
Saturday’s action begins at 11 a.m. ET with the men’s weight throw. The first running event, the men’s 60-meter hurdles, begins at 2:30 p.m.
The Saturday running events will be broadcast live on ESPN3.com.
