BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Cally Macumber was named Southeastern Conference Co-Women’s Runner of the Week after setting a personal record in the mile last Saturday at the Kentucky Track and Field Invitational.

Macumber won the mile in a field that included two unattached former All-Americans and 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials competitors at 800m (Phoebe Wright and Chanelle Price).

Macumber’s personal-best time of 4:42.35 leads the SEC, ranks No. 2 in the nation and is one of the fastest performances in the world this indoor season.

The honor for the senior continues a strong 2012-13 campaign, in which she was a cross country All-American after winning the SEC and Southeast Region individual titles. The Rochester Hills native was named SEC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Year in 2012, and also earned SEC runner of the week twice in the fall.

Saturday’s race was the second consecutive competition in which Macumber ran a PR time, as she also did so – in school-record time – at the NCAA cross country championships last November.

Florida’s Cory McGee was the other co-runner of the week.

The Wildcats next compete in the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet on Jan. 25 at home inside Nutter Field House.
