LEXINGTON, Ky. – Riding a five-match winning streak the Kentucky volleyball team will travel to Alabama for its lone match with the Crimson Tide this season on Friday at 8 p.m. ET to start a two-match road swing for the Cats.
Kentucky possesses a 17-8 overall record and an 11-4 mark in Southeastern Conference action after posting its fifth-straight win on Sunday in a 3-0 sweep of South Carolina. The Blue and White reached the 17-win plateau for the eighth-consecutive season. UK coach Craig Skinner is the only coach in program history to lead his team to 17-or-more victories in each season at the helm.
Alabama enters the weekend with a 15-12 overall mark and a 4-11 clip in SEC action. The Tide are coming off a victory over Mississippi State in its last action of the year.
Senior libero Stephanie Klefot tallied 15 digs in UK’s win over the Gamecocks to become just the fourth player in SEC history to amass 1,800 career digs or more. She’s posted 10 or more digs in 90 times in her career including both victories last week.
Sophomore Lauren O’Conner had 12 kills in both of UK’s wins a week ago including leading the team in the win over South Carolina. O’Conner smashed her kills utilizing a .455 hitting percentage in the victory.
Senior Ashley Frazier has logged 10 or more kills in four-consecutive wins for the Blue and White including posting a career-high 20 kills in a win over Ole Miss. Frazier has logged 64 kills for an average of 3.76 on a .358 hitting percentage in the last four wins.
UK owns the all-time series record with the Tide with a 24-13 mark. The Blue and White has notched two-straight wins in the series, but has also grabbed seven wins in the team’s last eight matchups.
Senior outside hitter Kayla Fitterer leads the Tide’s offensive attack with 273 kills (3.64 K/Set). On defense, junior libero Cristina Arenas leads the team with 354 digs (3.69 D/Set).
