LEXINGTON, Ky. – After reaching the Elite Eight for the second time in three years and winning their first Southeastern Conference regular season championship in 30 years last season, the Kentucky women’s basketball team has been picked to start the 2012-13 season at No. 6 by The Associated Press, the Wildcats’ highest preseason ranking in school history.
The previous high was a No. 8 ranking prior to the 1982-83 season.
Kentucky, which has ranked in three consecutive preseason AP polls, is one of five SEC teams to rank in the top 25 with Georgia (No. 10), Texas A&M (No. 15), Vanderbilt (No. 16) and Tennessee (No. 20). Other Kentucky opponents in the AP poll are Baylor (No. 1), Louisville (No. 9) and DePaul (No. 25).
The Lady Bears were ranked No. 1 followed by UConn, Duke and Stanford, respectively.
The Wildcats’ lone exhibition game of the season is free and scheduled for Monday, Nov. 5 vs. Bellarmine at 6 p.m. ET in Memorial Coliseum. The season opener is Saturday, Nov. 10 vs. Delaware State at 1 p.m. ET.

Season tickets for UK’s entire 17-game home schedule are on sale now for $65. Lower-level chair back seating ($80) is sold out.
Single-game tickets will go on sale on Monday, Oct. 29 at 9:00 a.m. ET. Tickets can be purchased by visiting the Joe Craft Center ticket office or calling the UK Ticket Office at (800) 928-2287 or (859) 257-1818. Tickets are also available online at UKAthletics.com or Ticketmaster.com (1-800-745-3000).
Tickets may be available in the reserved seating areas and in the general admission upper-level bleachers. Prices are as follows: $9 reserved seats (all ages), $8 adult general admission, $5 youth/senior general admission (ages 6-18, 65 and over). Children ages 5 and under are admitted free of charge in the general admission seating area.
Tickets for the “Pack the House” game vs. DePaul in Rupp Arena are: $9 lower level reserved (all ages), $8 upper level general admission, $5 upper level general admission youth/senior (ages 6-18, 65 and over).
Group tickets for the “Pack the House” game vs. DePaul on Dec. 7 in Rupp Arena are also available. Purchase 20 or more for just $3 per ticket or purchase 50 or more for just $1 per ticket. Children ages 5 and under are admitted free of charge in the general admission seating area. All groups are welcome and will be given seating on a first-come, first-served basis.
