LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Southeastern Conference announced the women’s basketball TV schedule for the 2012-13 season which features 11 exciting Kentucky women’s basketball matchups, including six on ESPN’s family of networks.
The conference package selected 11 of UK’s 29 regular season games for national or regional TV, including a school-record six contests on the ESPN family of networks. Highlights include three matchups on ESPN2, including a first-time meeting between Kentucky and Baylor on Nov. 13 in the State Farm Classic. The Wildcats will be showcased on an ESPN2 “Big Monday” clash for the second straight season when they travel to College Station, Texas on Feb. 18 to face new SEC opponent Texas A&M. UK will also be on ESPN2 when it faces Vanderbilt on Feb. 10 in the Music City.
ESPNU will televise three UK games this season, including road contests at Louisville (Dec. 2) and Missouri (Jan. 13) as well as an always highly anticipated matchup vs. boarder rival Tennessee in the Wildcat’s regular-season home finale on March 3 (Senior Day).
Fox Sports Net picked up three games as it will televise UK’s SEC home opener on Jan. 3 vs. Florida, the road game vs. South Carolina on Jan. 24 and vs. LSU in Memorial Coliseum on Jan. 27. Two home matchups will be featured on the SEC Network, Jan. 20 vs. Auburn and Feb. 3 vs. Georgia (National Women and Girls in Sports Day/Alumni Day).
The SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament will undergo a format change for the upcoming 2012-13 season. The tournament, which had been a four-day event featuring 12 teams since 1992, will now expand to 14 teams, adding an extra day of competition. Fox Sports Net continues its dedication to SEC events by adding the new Wednesday games, while continuing to televise the Thursday and Friday games. The semifinals will be aired on ESPNU for the fourth consecutive year, while the championship game will again be televised on ESPN2.
The majority of games not televised nationally will be available as a part of ESPN Full Court, the pay subscription for college basketball out-of-market service, and on ESPN3.com.
Additional game times and UK IMG Sports Network TV information will be released at a later date.
