LEXINGTON, Ky. – Led by junior Cally Macumber’s first-place finish, the University of Kentucky women’s cross country team finished second at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational, while the men’s team took seventh Saturday morning in Earlysville, Va.

Macumber crossed the finish line in 17:29.13, more than five seconds ahead of second-place finisher, Catherine White of Virginia. Macumber’s time featured an impressive 5:37 average mile.

The women’s team’s second, second-place finish of the year comes after the Wildcats finished second at the Belmont Opener Aug. 31, to open the season. The men’s team finished seventh with 200 points in the 8K event. No. 4 Oklahoma claimed first in the men’s competition with 40 points while Arkansas (61) and Virginia (66) rounded out the top three.

Senior Chelsea Oswald and junior Allison Peare both recorded top-10 finishes for Kentucky. Oswald finished sixth with a time of 17:53.54 while Peare crossed the finish line in ninth at 18:28.84. Macumber, Oswald and Peare each have two top-10 finishes on the year.

Junior Anna Bostrom finished 15th while senior Hiruni Wijayaratne crossed the finish line just over a second behind Bostrom for a 16th-place finish. Freshman Mary Kate Ponder placed 32nd with a time of 20:49.68.

After winning the opening meet of the season, senior Luis Orta led the Wildcats Saturday, finishing 16th overall with a time of 24:37.73. Sophomore Mackay Wilson finished 46th after completing the 8K event in 25:54.14.
