LEXINGTON, Ky. – After securing a 2-1 upset of No. 13 Florida Friday night and completing the weekend sweep with a 3-0 win over undefeated Mississippi State, Arin Gilliland was named Southeastern Conference offensive player of the week, while Courtney Raetzman was named SEC Freshman of the Week, it was announced Monday by the SEC office.

Gilliland scored two goals over the weekend, including the equalizer with No. 13 Florida on Friday night. In addition, the Lexington, Ky., native tallied an assist on the game-winning goal Friday night, giving the Wildcats their first win over Florida since the 2006 season.

Raetzman had the best weekend of her young career, charting the game-clinching goal vs. Florida Friday night, and recording two assists in Sunday’s 3-0 win over Mississippi State. Raetzman has now tallied 10 shots on the year, with four of them being on goal.

Coupling Sunday’s win with the 2-1 win Friday over No. 13 Florida, Kentucky completed its first SEC-weekend sweep under head coach Jon Lipsitz. The full allotment of six points comes as the most points UK has earned on an opening weekend of conference play since 2003 when UK tallied two wins.

The Wildcats now hit the road for a pair of SEC games next weekend when they make the trip to Arkansas and LSU next weekend. UK will open the weekend with Arkansas on Friday night at 8:00 p.m. ET and close out the weekend Sunday at LSU for a 2:00 p.m. ET kickoff.

Also, a reminder to fans that the jerseys worn by UK players in Sunday’s Kick Cancer match are currently being auctioned off at UKathletics.com/auctions.
