Every Tuesday, UK Athletics recognizes outstanding performances for our student-athletes. These are the honorees for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 2:

Volleyball: Whitney Billings

Junior Whitney Billings led the Wildcats in all phases of the game during the toughest stretch of matches to date for UK. Billings led the Wildcats to the tune of 12 kills in a loss at Louisville, a team receiving votes in the coaches’ poll. She also had 13 digs to accompany the kills total, which marked her third consecutive double-double effort. At a hostile environment once again at Ohio, Billings totaled 13 kills on a then season-best .346 hitting percentage while also coming up with four blocks in the match. In a loss to No. 17 Oregon, Billings was the top offensive threat with nine kills while also pacing the defensive effort with a team-high three blocks. In the weekend finale, Billings was flawless from the floor with six kills and no errors en route to a career-high .545 hitting percentage.
