An overmatched Tunisia  wasn’t supposed to do much in the way of testing Team USA. The Americans came in heavily favored and were expected to roll to their second victory in as many tries in the 2012 Olympics. If the anticipated came to pass, it stood to reason that Anthony Davis would get plenty of playing time in the waning minutes.Well, at halftime, Team USA led just 46-33 and appeared sluggish. Following through on a plan he apparently hatched before the game, coach Mike Krzyzewski turned to his reserves. Within minutes, the lead ballooned, but Kevin Love – a key factor in USA’s run – went down with what turned out to be a minor knee injury. In stepped Davis. In 13:47 on the floor, Davis scored 12 points without missing a shot. He hit each of his five of his field-goal attempts – all on alley-oops – and a pair of free throws to boot. He also added three rebounds, a block and a steal.Linked here is a video featuring Davis’ two most thunderous dunks. For Kentucky fans who saw him throw down dozens of lobs throughout a national championship run, it’s nothing new. But what is new is seeing NBA stars like LeBron James and Kobe Bryant cheering him on with big smiles. Also, make sure to watch through the end of the video, because announcer and current Philadelphia 76ers head coach talks about how Davis has earned the respects of his professional teammates already.
