LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky men’s and women’s soccer programs are getting a new videoboard installed at the UK Soccer Complex and will be ready for the 2012 seasons, it was announced on Friday afternoon.

After replacing the scoreboard at the UK Soccer Complex before the 2011 season, UK will now have a state-of-the-art videoboard at its playing surface. The videoboard will go above the scoreboard and will be fashioned similar to the UK Softball Complex videoboard that was installed before the 2012 softball season.

“We are thrilled to get a new videoboard at the UK Soccer Complex,” UK men’s head coach Johan Cedergren said. “Mitch Barnhart and the entire UK athletics administration is making a firm commitment to its programs throughout campus and our soccer programs will greatly benefit from such a state-of-the-art videoboard. It will add to a tremendous game atmosphere at the stadium and will be great for fans.”

Since the 2007 season, UK has installed new videoboards at several of its athletics complexes including at softball, baseball, track and field and now the men’s and women’s soccer programs.

Kentucky women’s soccer will open up the 2012 UK athletics season on Aug, 17 vs. Coastal Carolina at 7 p.m. ET at the UK Soccer Complex. The men’s program will open up on Aug. 26 at Dayton at 5 p.m. ET and will open its home schedule on Sept. 7-9 with the UK Invitational at the UK Soccer Complex.
