LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky rising sophomore sprinter Devinn Cartwright will represent her home country of the Bahamas on Thursday and Friday in the International Association of Athletics Federation World Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain. Cartwright will race in the women’s 400-meter hurdles Thursday, and the 100m hurdles Friday.

The IAAF World Junior Championships are being held from July 10-15 at the Montjuic Olympic Stadium in Barcelona. The event will feature 180 countries and the best athletes in the world under the age of 20.

Cartwright had a season-best time of 1:02.46 at the Polytan Invitational this year, finishing fourth. Cartwright finished fifth in the 400m hurdles at the Texas Roadhouse Border Battle and 18th at the Southeastern Conference Championships.

Round one of the women’s 400m hurdles at the IAAF World Junior Championships begins Thursday at 3:15 a.m. ET. Round one of the 100m hurdles is Friday at 4:05 a.m. ET. The semifinals of the 400m hurdles is Friday at 1:35 p.m. ET, while the semifinals of the 100m hurdles is Saturday at 12:35 p.m. ET. The finals of the 400m hurdles is Sunday at 2:45 p.m. ET, and the finals of the 100m hurdles is Monday at 12:20 p.m. ET.
