LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team (9-12, 1-9 SEC) is set to wrap up regular season dual match play with Vanderbilt. The Wildcats will travel to Nashville, Tenn. to take on the 24th-ranked Commodores at 1 p.m. ET for a Saturday afternoon matchup.
Kentucky is coming off of a split weekend of SEC play. The Cats faced No. 62 Mississippi State first, gaining their first SEC win on the season thus far. Junior Jessica Stiles stepped up for the Cats, defeating 113th-ranked Alexandra Perper at the No. 1 singles slots. Her performance, along with multiple Wildcats’ strong play, elevated UK for the win.
The Cats next faced 16th-ranked Ole Miss. The very experienced team provided challenging play for the Wildcats as they fell 7-0 to the Rebels.
Kentucky looks to build off of the success of the match against Mississippi State to finish strong against Vanderbilt. The Commodores posted identical results as the Wildcats this past weekend with a win against Mississippi State and loss to Ole Miss. With a level playing field opening up, the Cats look to take advantage to end the regular season on a high note.
