LEXINGTON, Ky. – Although the University of Kentucky women’s tennis team fell to No. 7 Georgia, junior Jessica Stiles and sophomore Caitlin McGraw brought home an impressive doubles victory for the Wildcats. On the blustery afternoon in Lexington, the duo proved their worth, defeating the No. 8 doubles pair consisting of Chelsey Gullickson and Nadja Gilchrist.

This is the best the team has competed this season,” said seventh-year head coach, Carlos Drada, “We took a step on the large right direction against one of the toughest teams in the nation.”

Although Stiles and McGraw had not paired up for dual match play since last season, the two did not miss a step. They provided tough competition for Gullickson and Gilchrist and refused to allow the impressive winds to alter their game. Their persistence earned them the notable doubles victory, where they posted an 8-4, final result.

In singles play, freshman Stephanie Fox once again found herself in a tight match, facing off against No. 50 Maho Kowase.. Per usual, Fox ensued in a battle but Kowase ultimately topped the freshman to take the victory, 6-4, 6-4.

Next, the Wildcats host No. 19 Tennessee at the Hilary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Complex at noon ET on Sunday.
