In one of the more exciting games of the 2012 NCAA Tournament, two of the most traditional powers in college basketball went up and down the floor, trading blows with the Wildcats eventually posting a 102-90 win over Indiana.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist led Kentucky with his seventh double-double of the season (24p, 10r) while four other Cats scored in double-digits including Doron Lamb (21), Darius Miller (19), Marquis Teague (14) and Terrence Jones (12). Anthony Davis finished with nine points, but pulled down 12 rebounds and three blocks. Teague tacked on seven assists.
Kentucky shot an NCAA Tournament record (min. 30 att.) 94.6% (35-37) from the free throw line.
Series History
This is the seventh meeting between Kentucky and Baylor, with the Wildcats leading, 6-0.
The two schools haven’t met since the 1980 seaon.
UK and Baylor have only met once before in the NCAA Tournament, the Wildcats defeated the Baylor in the ’48 NCAA Championship game.
Kentucky vs. the Big 12
Kentucky is 57-9 all-time against schools comprising the Big 12 conference. That includes a 75- 65 win over Kansas earlier this season as well as an 87-71 win over Iowa State in the third round of the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats’ most common opponent from the Big 12 has been Kansas (20-6).
Cats in Atlanta
The Wildcats are 67-29 all-time in games played in Atlanta with most of the recent action coming in SEC Tournaments.
Since the 1999 SEC Tournament, Kentucky is 11-3 in Atlanta, and 11-2 in the Georgia Dome. One of the losses came to Georgia in Alexander Memorial Coliseum after a a tornado struck the Georgia Dome in the 2008 SEC Tournament moving the game to Georgia Tech’s arena.
