NCAA Tournament Series History
Kentucky and Indiana have met three times previously in the NCAA Tournament. In 1973, the two met in the regional championship with a Final Four berth on the line. Indiana won that one 72-65.
The Wildcats got their revenge in the 1975 tournament, ruining Indiana’s bid for a perfect season with a classic 92-90 win over the Hoosiers in Dayton, earning the Wildcats their seventh trip to the Final Four.
The two met again in the 1983 tournament where the Cats posted a 64-59 win in the regional semifinals.
Calipari vs. Crean
The two old friends have met seven times throughout their coaching careers. Calipari owns a 5-2 record against Crean. He is 2-1 against Crean since coming to Kentucky and posted a 3-1 record against the IU coach when he was at Marquette and Calipari was at Memphis.
Crean won their first meeting back in the 2000-01 season and Calipari then won five-straight.
