LEXINGTON, Ky. – In the final day of zone competition for NCAA Diving, the University of Kentucky was led by consistency from both the men and the women including Greg Ferrucci who finished fourth in the platform competition contested today in Bloomington, Ind., on the campus of Indiana University.
“It was a great zone meet for this team across the board,” UK head diving coach Ted Hautau said.
On platform today, UK placed four divers into the top-10 including a career-high score of 653.55 for freshman Kyle Lang who finished eighth in the competition. Zack Peterson also had a solid finish for Kentucky placing ninth overall with a final tally of 650.70 and John Fox rounded out the men’s day with a tenth-place finish accumulating 628.30 points in the competition.
The highest finisher for the men was sophomore NCAA qualifier Greg Ferrucci who went 733.10 in the competition, racking up a fourth-place finish.
“Kyle Lang went for a career-high in the preliminaries, and then shattered those career-best’s in the finals.” Hautau said.
In the women’s platform finals, Christa Cabot highlighted the Wildcats performance on Sunday with a 573.40 score overall to finish up 16th overall.
The women were pretty solid on platform today.” Hautau said. “No mistakes, but we could have been a little sharper entering the water.
Lindsay Keahey finished 16th in the prelims with a 202.25 finishing off a stellar freshman season for the diver from Houston, Texas.
“Even though not all of our divers made it to NCAA’s, they had some really great performances. I am excited about our team and the outlook for the future.” Hautau said.
