LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team has reached the heart of its season, as it gets set to begin play in the South Eastern Conference (SEC). The Wildcats (8-3, 0-0 SEC) will first host No. 43 LSU on Friday at 5 p.m. ET at the Hilary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Complex. Next, No. 32 Arkansas will travel to Lexington for a match at noon ET on Sunday.
Coming off of a tough week with losses to Akron and Indiana, the Wildcats are looking to come into the weekend strong. The team hopes to build on its success from earlier in the season, when the Cats had their best start in three years.
For victories this weekend, the team will depend on strong performances from all team members as the young team continues to grow as a unit. Teamwork as been the theme of the season thus far, but the Cats will certainly rely on the consistency of certain teammates. Cece Witten has been a staple for UK at the No. 5 or No. 6 singles position, where she is 8-0 in dual match play.
