LEXINGTON, Ky. — Former University of Kentucky football stars Winston Guy and Danny Trevathan are one step closer to realizing their dreams of playing in the National Football League as both players have been invited to and will take part in the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine. The event runs Feb. 22-28 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.
The NFL Scouting Combine is held each February and involves hundreds of the best college football players. The seven-day event consists of executives, coaches, scouts and doctors from all 32 NFL teams, who will conduct intense, four-day job interviews in preparation for the upcoming NFL Draft. On top of the interview process, each player will go through the following measurable drills: 40-yard dash, bench press, vertical jump, broad jump, three-cone drill and shuttle run.
Trevathan’s combine started Friday, while Guy’s will begin Saturday. A complete schedule for linebackers and defensive backs is listed below.
A native of Leesburg, Fla., Trevathan made 143 tackles during the 2011 season for the Wildcats, leading the Southeastern Conference in tackles for the second-consecutive season. Trevathan ranked sixth in the nation in tackles with an 11.92 average per game and led the nation’s linebackers in fumbles forced (five), while ranking second among the nation’s linebackers in interceptions with four.
