LEXINGTON, Ky. – After one of the most historic seasons in UK diving history, Greg Ferrucci has been named second-team All-Southeastern Conference, while freshman diver Lindsay Keahey was named to the SEC All-Freshman team, the league office announced Friday night.

“I am very pleased,” UK head coach Gary Conelly said. “Lindsay’s performance was terrific for her first SEC Championships. Greg just continues to show his talent level.” 

Ferrucci, who was the 2011 SEC Freshman Diver of the Year, had one of the best seasons ever at UK, posting new school records in the one-meter and three-meter diving competitions.

At the SEC Championships last weekend in Knoxville, Tenn., Ferrucci won all three of the preliminaries for the major diving competitions, and finished with two top-three finishes in the finals. The native of Huntsville, N.C., racked up a second-place finish in the three-meter before taking home third in the one-meter springboard.

“I was very pleased with Greg’s SEC performances,” said Ted Hautau, who is the head diving coach for UK. “He had a heck of a meet, diving consistently throughout the coarse of the preliminaries and the finals. To metal in two of three events and to win every preliminary showed a lot of consistency in pressure situations. We were pleased he was named to second-team All-SEC.”

In her first-ever SEC Championships, Keahey qualified for the finals in the platform competition in Knoxville. Keahey posted a season high of 249.75 on platform, 260.70 on the one-meter, and 255.75 on the three-meter.

“Lindsay really showed us something at the SEC Championships,” Hautau said. “She had never been on that big stage before and she handled the pressure like a senior. I couldn’t be more proud of that platform performance.”
