FT. PIERCE, Fla. – The University of Kentucky swimming and diving team returned from it’s winter break with a bang, winning 10 races en route to a sweep of Indian River State College in Ft. Pierce, Fla., on Thursday afternoon.

The men’s team downed IRSC 165-76 while the women defeated the Pioneers 194-48. Both of the competitions were contested in the long-course meters format.

“We are very pleased with our meet results,” UK head coach Gary Conelly said. “They come at the end of the most challenging week of training. It’s a good indicator that we are headed for some fast swim’s at SEC’s.”

Ross Bundschuh took home the 400-freestyle victory with a 4:20.77 on the men’s side, with William Heidler winning the 200-IM recording a time of 2:16.16. Lee Duggins added to the UK success, posting a time of 1:00.72 in the 100-backstroke, while Tyler Reed won the 100-freestyle with a 52.49 swim in the event.

On the women’s side, Lafayette, Ind., native Jenna Willis took home the win in 100-breaststroke taking claim to a time of 1:17.63. Both Megan Eppler and Julia Gerotto took home wins in the 50-freestyle and 200-IM respectively. Eppler swam a 27.65 in the 50-freestyle while Gerotto swam a 2:28.21 in the 200-IM.

Christina Bechtel also added to the UK success, winning the 100-butterfly swimming a 1:04.79 in the event. Blair Kuethe, the Tampa, Fla., native took home a 100-freestyle victory, tabbing a time of 1:00.14.

Claire Archibald continued her impressive senior campaign, as the South Africa native took claim to a victory in the 100-backstroke by posting a time of 1:08.42.

The Wildcats will return to Southeastern Conference action on Saturday, Jan. 14 as the Wildcats will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. to take on the University of Alabama Crimson Tide in a dual meet scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. ET at the Don Gambril Olympic Pool.
