On Sept. 15, starting running back Raymond Sanders underwent surgery to repair torn knee cartilage. The prognosis for Sanders was he would miss three weeks as he recovered. Well, it’s been less three weeks and Sanders has returned to practice. Sanders did wear a red jersey protecting him from contact, but other than that, he was a full participant.”He did everything except for contact and he looked good running,” head coach Joker Phillips said. “He took reps with the ones and if he doesn’t swell I would expect him to be able to go Saturday.”Phillips was very pleased with the recovery of his sophomore runner, calling it “amazing” and saying Sanders looked good in practice. He may not immediately step back into a starting role, but will play on Saturday at No. 18 South Carolina barring any setbacks.Phillips was pleased in general with the effort and intensity of practice, but some of the mistakes that have plagued Kentucky continued, though some of those can be blamed on this being the first day of installing the game plan for the Gamecocks.
